A Week of Discovery at April Vacation Camp
April Vacation Camp Registration Update
Thank you for your interest in the Challenger Learning Center of Maine’s April Vacation Camps!
Our April Camp sessions are now fully closed, and registration will reopen for the 2027 season. These camps are incredibly popular, offering hands on STEM experiences like robotics, engineering challenges, Earth science exploration, and space mission activities.
We appreciate your enthusiasm and support, and we encourage you to check back soon for updates and announcements about next year’s camp offerings.
Stay tuned, we can’t wait to explore with you again in 2027!
Camp will be Monday April 19th - Thursday April 22nd
Day 1: Robot Day
Note: This is description of April Camp 2026. Themes and activities are likely to change for 2027!
Curious campers will explore the world of robotics, from building and programming rovers for outer space, to constructing a habitat for their bots to traverse.
This day will focus on engineering, programming, mechanics, and even a bit of game design! We will use LEGO Spike Education, Ozobots, Scratch, and even more robots and tools.

Day 2: Earth Day
Note: This is description of April Camp 2026. Themes and activities are likely to change for 2027!
On this day, we will get to know our planet by making big things really small, and small things REALLY big. Using digital microscopes, we will scavenge for the hidden details in everyday things.
We will also explore the behavior of rivers with our interactive stream table. Campers finish the day by learning all about birds with interactive games and hands-on activities.
This is a potentially messy day with some outside time. Students will get their hands dirty, and maybe their socks wet too!

Day 3: Infrastructure Day

What really holds up the world? What are the technologies that make it go ‘round? Campers will tackle a series of challenges: Create a dam to hold back a river, make a windmill to power a city, build a building that can survive an earthquake (out of candy), and construct the strongest sand castle… in the world!

Getting to space and back is hard work, requiring problem solving and expertise. Do you have what it takes?
To find out, campers will design parachutes, airplanes, and satellites, and experiment with aerothermal heating (to get ready to re-enter the atmosphere), and special low friction vehicles for landing a Space Shuttle on a runway.
Astronauts will finish by conducting scientific experiments in our state of the art space simulator.
